How do I Setup a Submitter (Non-Author) Account?

Solution

How do I setup a Submitter (Non-Author) Account?

Some organizations designate one person to submit papers to SSRN on behalf of their authors. In this case, the organization creates a "Submitter" account (which is essentially the same as any individual account except that it should not appear as an author on any submissions).

To create a Submitter account...

  • Sign Out of all other (eg. personal) SSRN accounts
  • Go to the SSRN Homepage
  • Select the "Create account" button from the top hand navigation menu
  • Enter the "Email Address" that should be used for all correspondence between SSRN and the Submitter and click on the orange "Join SSRN". It is best not to use a personal email for this account if possible.

  • In the Create an Account form, enter the Organization/company name as the "Given Name"
  • Type in "Submitter" as the Last Name
  • Type a password and click on the orange "Create Account" button

NOTE: When submitting papers, the name on the account "(Your Organization) Submitter" will automatically appear as an author.  The Submitter will need to edit the author section, and designate themselves as "Assistant" rather than "Author" by clicking the corresponding radio button. This will allow the Submitter account to access the papers on the My Papers page without listing the Submitter account as an author on the public abstract page.

While adding an organization's papers to SSRN via a Submitter account is great, there are other options available which provide an outlet for the pre-publication working papers and recently published articles of your organization's researchers. These options will provide more exposure for your researchers' work and are an excellent way to create awareness and disseminate your research. For more information about these options, please contact SSRN.
